Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Dakar, Senegal, where he will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the country’s 65th Independence Day celebrations.
Senegal marks its Independence Day annually on April 4, commemorating its liberation from French colonial rule in 1960. The celebrations, held at Place de la Nation in Dakar, will feature parades, cultural displays, and official ceremonies.

Shettima’s visit follows an invitation from Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, reflecting the strong diplomatic ties between Nigeria and Senegal. The event is expected to host dignitaries from across Africa and beyond.
The Vice President is scheduled to return to Nigeria after the one-day celebration.
