Wahab hails Lagosians’ civic spirit in revived monthly cleanup
The Lagos State Government has lauded residents for their widespread participation in the first edition of the reintroduced monthly environmental sanitation exercise held on Saturday.
The commendation was given by the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a post on his official X account, where he described the turnout as a strong demonstration of civic responsibility among Lagosians.
Wahab expressed appreciation to residents across the state for actively taking part in the exercise and contributing to a cleaner environment.
“Our deepest appreciation goes out to every single Lagosian who stepped out today to take ownership of our common heritage,” he said.
He thanked residents for clearing drains, sweeping streets, and sanitising their surroundings, noting that their actions reflect a growing culture of environmental responsibility.
The commissioner also commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat for their commitment to restoring the monthly sanitation exercise.
He further acknowledged the contributions of the Governor’s wife, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and the Deputy Governor’s wife, Oluremi Hamzat, for leading the commencement of the exercise.
Wahab also extended appreciation to transport unions across the state for mobilising their members, noting that their involvement underscores the collective responsibility required to sustain the initiative.
