Wee-hour blaze destroys four-bedroom flat in Ibadan

A fire outbreak in the early hours of Monday razed a four-bedroom flat at No. 1 Happiness Close, Akufo Estate, Elebu area of Ibadan.

Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, confirmed the incident in Ibadan on Monday.

Akinyinka said the agency swiftly deployed a team to the scene after receiving a distress call at exactly 1:13 a.m.

According to him, firefighters arrived to find the building fully engulfed in flames.

“The firemen swiftly swung into action and were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and properties.

“They also rescued the family from the building, and no casualty was recorded,” he said.

Akinyinka attributed the cause of the fire to the overheating of a solar panel, which ignited nearby combustible materials.
