Welfare of less-privileged in Ekiti important – Fayemi

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi says his administration places premium on the welfare of the less-privileged in the state.

In a post on his Facebook page on Tuesday, Fayemi said his government set up many welfare packages for the less-privileged in the state to ensure they are not left out.

The governor said his administration has fulfilled the promises made to the people of the state by supporting the poor.

“Our ideological position remains that no individual in society should be left behind, but everyone should be supported to live out their dreams to their fullest potential. This is why we instituted various social safety net programmes like Owo Arugbo, Ounje Arugbo, cash transfer to the indigent, free education program, and State Health Insurance Scheme to name a few since I assumed office in 2010.

“Today, I had the honour of presenting cheques to 24 benefitting communities under the State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (State CARES) Programme.  The State CARES Programme is a jointly developed, World Bank Supported Programme designed to support budgeted government interventions at the State level—targeting vulnerable and poor households, farmers, artisans, and MSEs in the post-covid-19 economy.

“It is important to reiterate that some of the benefiting communities were chosen out of the community engagement that I had with communities across Ekiti State in preparation for the 2022 budget last year.

I urge all the benefiting communities to make judicious use of this money within the stipulated provision, the specified time frame, and in compliance with all the guidelines and the MOU signed with the Agency on the implementation of this programme,” he wrote.
