We’re dedicated to addressing needs of local communities- ALGON

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has emphasised the association’s dedication to addressing the needs of local communities.
ALGON reiterated its commitment to enhancing governance at the grassroots level, with a focus on improving service delivery, livelihoods, and the overall well-being of Nigerians.
In a statement on Sunday marking the 2025 Eid-el-Fitr celebration, ALGON’s National President, Mr. Bello Lawal, said “As ALGON celebrates the blessings of Eid-el-Fitr, we pray that Allah (SWT) brings comfort, relief, and prosperity to millions of homes and families of our Muslim brothers and sisters. May this joyous occasion mark the beginning of a new chapter of peace, happiness, and abundance in their lives.”
Lawal assured the public that ALGON would continue its advocacy for good governance and sustainable development in local government areas, working closely with other tiers of government, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as development partners.
“We will work assiduously to promote rural governance and ensure that our service delivery improves the livelihoods of our people. We stand in solidarity with our Muslim brothers and sisters, acknowledging that their struggles are our collective responsibility,” he said.
The ALGON President also underscored the association’s ongoing efforts to foster leadership development and adopt innovative strategies to support the rural economy.
“We will continue to advocate for the needs of our local communities, ensuring that their voices are heard and their challenges addressed,” he added.
