‘We’re not part of ADC coalition’ — Oyo PDP declares

By Adejayan Gbenga –
The Oyo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disassociated itself from the newly formed political coalition led by some national opposition leaders under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform.
This follows the announcement of former Senate President, David Mark, and former Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as interim National Chairman and Secretary of the ADC after a meeting of opposition leaders in Abuja on Tuesday night.
In a statement on Wednesday, signed by the Oyo State PDP Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, the party described reports linking it to the coalition as false and misleading. He emphasized that the PDP has no involvement in the arrangement and is not aligned with the ADC or its objectives.
“Following recent developments and reports of new political alignments, we wish to make it clear that the PDP is not part of the coalition operating under the ADC platform. We have no affiliation with their activities or agenda,” the statement read.
Adeleke reaffirmed that the PDP in Oyo State remains strong, united, and fully committed to the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde. He added that the party’s structures are intact and its focus remains on delivering good governance and strengthening the party from within.
He urged party leaders, members, and supporters to remain vigilant, address internal challenges proactively, and avoid distractions that could destabilize the party’s unity.
“We must diligently manage our internal affairs, close any gaps that could weaken us, and stay focused on our shared goals. This is not a time for complacency but for reinforcing our collective strength,” Adeleke stated.
He concluded by calling on all PDP members to stay committed to the growth and success of the party, warning that unity and discipline are crucial as the party navigates the current political climate.
