‘We’re rebuilding trust, not just roads’ – Tinubu

…commissions key project in Gwagwalada

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday declared that his administration is not merely fixing roads but rebuilding public trust and deepening inclusive governance across Nigeria, under what he described as a quiet but impactful revolution driven by the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the commissioning of the newly rehabilitated Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria–New Market Road in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Tinubu emphasized that the transformation happening across the territory reflects a government that listens, responds, and delivers.

“We are not just rehabilitating roads. We are rehabilitating trust,” the President said. “The transformation unfolding across the FCT is the product of deliberate reforms and the bold, reform-oriented policies of this administration. By expanding the revenue base of the FCT, we are investing in roads, schools, hospitals, and people.”
He underscored that development must extend beyond Abuja’s city centre to long-neglected rural communities. He noted that the newly commissioned road was not arbitrarily selected but nominated by the people of Gwagwalada—symbolizing the administration’s participatory approach to governance.
“This is the kind of democracy we believe in—one that listens, responds, and delivers,” he added. “This road is a corridor of dignity for the market woman, a path to safety for schoolchildren, and a route to prosperity for the hardworking trader.”
Describing infrastructure as both “functional and transformative,” Tinubu said the road would ease the movement of people and goods, enhance access to healthcare and education, and unlock economic opportunities for the community.
“The days of empty promises and abandoned projects are behind us. We are not just building infrastructure; we are building confidence in governance,” he noted.
The President also commended FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for his leadership and execution of strategic development initiatives, stating that his work proves “disruption is not a threat to order but a requirement for progress.”
