We’re working to prosecute terrorism offenders in Nigeria, says Ribadu

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mr. Nuhu Ribadu on Monday said the President Bola Tinubu administration would be working in enhancing and partnering with the judiciary to counterterrorism in Nigeria.

This, the NSA, said would assist in effectively assist in prosecuting terrorism offenders.

Ribadu also stated that Tinubu’s government will be committed to engaging communities and the media with the aim of defeating the menace of terrorism in the country.

He stated this while delivering his goodwill message at the launch of the African Counter-Terrorism Summit in Abuja.

The NSA also stated that the federal government has also enhanced the cybersecurity act introducing the provision that dedicates 40 per cent of the cyber security funds specifically to combat terrorism in Nigeria.

The event is organised by Nigeria, with support from the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, and will hold from April 22 to April 23, 2024 with the theme: ‘Strengthening Regional Cooperation and Institution Building to Address the Evolving Threat of Terrorism’.

Westernpost reported on Sunday that the presidency said that the summit aims to enhance multilateral counter-terrorism cooperation.

It also seeks to reshape the international community’s collective response to terrorism in Africa.
