Popular Nollywood actress and film producer Ini Edo has opened up about her decision to choose surrogacy as a path to motherhood.

In a Netflix show, the 42-year-old actress shared her journey, revealing her struggles with fertility and the factors that led to her choice. She explained that surrogacy became her best option when age was no longer on her side.

“I never thought I would have fertility issues, but I’ve had problems carrying pregnancies to term,” she said.

“When it wasn’t happening as I hoped, and I wasn’t getting younger, I decided to explore my options. Surrogacy became the best path for me, and I’m very happy with my decision,” she added.

The actress also addressed rumors surrounding her daughter’s paternity, stating that while the child’s father is alive, he is not involved in raising her.

“I’m raising her alone,” she explained. “There was no man in my life at the time, but I wanted to have a child. There are different ways to go about that.”

Ini Edo emphasized that her decision to pursue surrogacy was deeply considered.

“It’s not something people just wake up and decide to do. For me, it wasn’t a fancy way out—I’ve always wanted to be a mother.

“I got married at the age of 26 because I thought that by 31, I would have been done with childbearing and could focus on my career. But life didn’t pan out that way. I tried. I’ve had over six miscarriages,” she revealed.
