Why I remain at peace with my predecessors – Akwa Ibom Governor

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has attributed his cordial relationship with past governors to what he describes as “the grace of God.”

Speaking to State House correspondents after leading a delegation of Akwa Ibom stakeholders to meet with President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, on Friday evening, Eno emphasized humility and respect as key to fostering unity among leaders.

The delegation included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, a former governor of the state, immediate past Governor Udom Emmanuel, state lawmakers, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and representatives of youth and women groups.

Addressing journalists, Governor Eno said, “I know that when you show humility and respect to past leaders, they will embrace you. For me, everything is about grace. When you ask God for wisdom and grace, He provides it.”

The governor, who is also a pastor, underscored the importance of maintaining peace in governance. “No price is too much to pay for peace,” he said.

Eno also highlighted Akwa Ibom’s tradition of leadership continuity since 1999, attributing the state’s political stability to divine guidance.

“Akwa Ibom is a state dedicated to God, and every leader He brings is given the wisdom and ability to govern in harmony,” he added.
