Wike directs contractors to complete Abuja projects ahead of Tinubu’s anniversary

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has directed contractors handling major infrastructure projects across Abuja to meet agreed deadlines ahead of activities marking President Bola Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
Wike gave the directive on Wednesday, during an inspection of ongoing projects, including the Jahi–Gwarimpa Interchange, Airport Road to Kuje corridor, Kuje to Gwagwalada road, the City Gate project, and the Wuse/Central Area link roads.
Speaking after inspecting the Jahi Interchange being handled by CBC Global, the minister expressed satisfaction with the quality of work, saying the project was nearing completion.
“We are very hopeful that in the next two weeks we will reach over 95 per cent. The quality of the job is very, very good, and I believe we are going to meet up with the timing,” he said.
Wike, however, urged contractors to keep to agreed timelines, noting that the projects are scheduled for inauguration during the anniversary celebrations of the Tinubu administration.
The minister also expressed optimism over the Airport Road to Kuje Junction project and the Kuje to Gwagwalada road, saying work was progressing steadily and within expectations.
On the City Gate project being handled by Julius Berger, Wike described it as a landmark development that would transform the entrance into Abuja, adding that the facility would include security installations, surveillance cameras and AI-enabled monitoring systems.
He disclosed that several projects, including water treatment plants in Bwari and Ushafa, roads in Katampe, Gishiri and Gaduwa, as well as the Apo mechanics village relocation project, would be commissioned during the anniversary period.
