Wike waives C-of-O fees for Nigerian Law School, orders urgent staff housing

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved a waiver of fees for the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) for the Nigerian Law School’s Abuja campus in Bwari.

Wike announced this on Thursday during a meeting with the school’s management in Abuja, where he also declared an emergency on the construction of staff quarters and other critical infrastructure to improve the institution’s learning environment.

Responding to an appeal by the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote, the minister expressed surprise that the institution had operated without a C of O since relocating to Bwari.

“Anything we can do to help our children, we are willing to do that,” he said, adding that the staff quarters project must be treated as an emergency to ensure speedy delivery.

He directed the director of lands to waive all processing fees and ensure the C of O is processed and ready within one week.

Wike noted that regularising the land was necessary to move the school from what he described as an “illegal session” to proper ownership.

The minister also committed the FCT Administration to addressing infrastructure challenges, disclosing that 10 staff quarters had been completed, with plans to build 10 more units.

He added that new hostels and a proposed auditorium were underway, while also directing the school to explore digitisation of its administrative processes in line with ongoing reforms.
