Wike’s aide accuses Ireti Kingibe of alleged immorality, unpaid salaries to aides

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has accused the Senator representing the FCT, Ireti Kingibe, of alleged immoral conduct and failure to pay her legislative aides.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Tuesday, Olayinka alleged that many of Kingibe’s aides had resigned due to unpaid salaries and unethical treatment.

“As of today, we know how many of Senator Ireti Kingibe’s aides have resigned owing to non-payment of their salaries and immoral acts,” he stated. “We know of one of her aides who resigned because she allegedly had an immoral relationship with her boyfriend.”

Olayinka also referenced tension in Kingibe’s personal life, claiming that her relationship with her third husband, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), had deteriorated—though he added, “we will keep our gunpowder dry for now.”

His comments followed Senator Kingibe’s recent criticism of Wike during a television appearance, in which she accused the FCT Minister of being out of touch with residents and stoking public resentment. Olayinka described her remarks as ironic and hypocritical.

“It’s laughable that someone who treats her personal aides like slaves and refuses to pay them is lecturing others about how to serve the public,” he said.

He further challenged Kingibe to explain the alleged use of a ₦3 billion envelope allocated to her last year, questioning the integrity of her constituency projects.

“She must tell the people what she did with the ₦3 billion and how many constituency contracts she sold for between 15 and 20 percent of their actual value,” Olayinka said.
