Withdrawal of services by Osun LG workers pathetic, uncalled for – APC chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has condemned the ongoing withdrawal of services by local government workers in the state, calling it a pathetic and unfortunate development.
Speaking with newsmen on Sunday in Osogbo, Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, lamented that the strike had crippled administrative activities across local government areas, causing immense hardship for residents at the grassroots.
He urged the workers to return to their duty posts immediately to prevent a total collapse of the local government system, warning that essential services had already been severely affected.
Oyintiloye, a former member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), noted that in the past month, clinics, primary health care centers, marriage registries, and other administrative offices had remained shut, leaving many citizens stranded.
He expressed concern that pregnant women had been unable to access routine immunizations, while job applicants requiring official documentation had been left in limbo due to the shutdown of local government secretariats.
The APC chieftain argued that since there were elected council chairmen in place, the workers had no justification for abandoning their duties, stressing that governance at the grassroots level must not be disrupted.
He urged the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state to resist being used as tools to undermine local government administration. He reminded them that their role was to serve all governments in power, not to engage in political interference.
Oyintiloye assured that security agencies were working closely with council chairmen to ensure the safety of workers upon resumption. He commended a faction of NULGE under the Association of Concerned Local Government Staff for their willingness to return to work and warned the state government against employing divisive tactics to weaken local governance.
