Withheld LG funds stalling recruitment of teachers in Osun — PDP

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government to release five months’ withheld local government allocations to the state. The party said the delay is hindering teacher recruitment and stalling key developmental projects.
In a statement signed by its Director of Media and Publicity, Hon. Oladele Olabamiji, the PDP blamed the withheld funds for the delay in issuing employment letters to newly recruited teachers, saying the state government was ready to proceed before the disbursement was allegedly blocked.
The PDP accused the APC of attempting to frustrate the developmental efforts of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, particularly in the education sector and other ongoing infrastructural projects across the state.
“The deployed ad-hoc teachers were trained and operate under the supervision of senior teachers. APC should release Osun’s allocation being withheld illegally so the state government can fulfill its obligations to the people,” the statement said.
The party described the situation as a deliberate ploy to sabotage progress, vowing that the PDP administration would not relent in its efforts to deliver on its mandate despite the alleged obstruction.
“We are using this medium to report to the people that the APC is bent on stopping Osun’s development. The PDP government will not allow that. Osun must develop, whether the APC likes it or not,” the statement added.
The party warned that Osun voters would hold the APC accountable in the 2026 elections for what it described as “inhuman treatment” of the state’s residents through the unlawful withholding of funds.
“What offence have Osun people committed to deserve this? The people will vote PDP and defend their votes come August next year,” the statement concluded.
