Woman dies in Ekiti after alleged severe beating by husband

Tragedy struck in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, when a woman, identified as Modupe Alasin, reportedly died after allegedly being beaten by her husband.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred when the man allegedly descended heavily on his wife because she arrived late to the farm.
According to a witness, the man had flogged the wife severely because she came late to the farm.
The woman was heard by the witness screaming and begging for mercy as the husband flogged her repeatedly.
A few minutes after the assault, the husband allegedly sent her to fetch water from a nearby stream. However, on getting there, she reportedly slumped and died, suspected to have been too weak from the beating.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer, Ekiti State Police Command, SP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident.
Abutu noted that the husband has been arrested for further investigation.
