Nigeria’s junior women’s basketball team, the Junior D’Tigress, will face Portugal today (Tuesday) in a must-win final group game at the FIBA U-19 Women’s Basketball World Cup in the Czech Republic.

Both teams go into the clash with one win and one loss each, making the encounter a crucial decider for a place in the knockout stage.

Nigeria began their campaign on a high, securing a historic 93-88 victory over China, but were outclassed in their second game, falling 113-42 to Group B leaders Canada.

Portugal also had a mixed run, losing their opening game 88-49 to Canada before bouncing back with a dominant 75-52 win against China.

Currently second in the group standings, the Portuguese will be looking to seal qualification with another win, while Nigeria must do the same to keep their hopes alive.

The outcome of today’s match will determine who joins Canada in advancing from Group B.

Both teams are expected to give their all in what promises to be a high-stakes, fiercely contested encounter.

Tip-off is scheduled for this morning.
