World Food Day: Oluremi Tinubu urges support for farmers, reduction in food waste

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called for increased support for farmers, reduced food waste and the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices to improve food security in Nigeria.

She made the call in a message to mark World Food Day 2026, observed on Friday, with the theme, “Innovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow.”

Tinubu said the occasion highlighted the need to embrace innovation while preserving traditional knowledge that strengthens food systems.

She urged Nigerians to support farmers and promote practices that would ensure access to safe and nutritious food for every family.

The First Lady said sustained commitment to these measures would help build a food-secure nation and secure a healthier future for generations to come.
