In commemoration of World Mental Health Day, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged individuals and organizations to prioritize mental health, particularly in the workplace.

Speaking on this year’s theme, “It’s Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace,” she emphasized the importance of addressing mental well-being amid rising dissatisfaction in professional environments.

The First Lady, in a statement issued on Wednesday, noted that unaddressed emotional struggles can lead to severe mental health issues. She stressed the need to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, believing that this would encourage more people to openly discuss their challenges.

“Early diagnosis, facilitated by open dialogue, could lead to better recovery outcomes,” she said.

Senator Tinubu further advocated for a collective effort to create a supportive environment, both within and outside the workplace, to combat mental health challenges.

She called on Nigerians to remain vigilant, offer love and support, and promote early medical intervention and counseling.

The First Lady also appealed to citizens to be their “brother’s keeper,” promoting mental health awareness for a safer and healthier society.
