World Peace Day: NSCDC CG admonishes Nigerians to imbibe tolerance spirit

The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,(NSCDC), Abubakar Audi, has admonished Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of tolerance and peace that would give room for a win-win situation.
Audi said Nigeria as a nation could actualize its enormous potentials as a great nation, when the culture of peace and peaceful coexistence is imbibed by everyone.
The commandant said this in a statement signed by the Corp’s Public Relations Officer,CSC Babawale Afolabi on Thursday.
Audi wished all peace loving Nigerians a peaceful celebration of the United Nations’ International Day of Peace.
“As the world celebrates on this day; commemorating The International Day of Peace- a day established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly which was two decades later unanimously voted to designate the Day as a period of “non-violence and cease-fire” by the UN General Assembly.
The main significance of celebrating the International Day of Peace Day or World Peace Day is to foster a culture of peace and non-violence across global communities. It creates awareness among people about the disastrous effects of conflicts, wars, and violence, thereby encouraging them to adopt cease-fire initiatives and is celebrated on this day 21st September every where”he said.
According to the statement,”The corps across formations is marking this day with series of activities driven at enhancing peace, tolerance and non-violence approach to all conflict situations”.
He called on all peace practitioners to continue to raise awareness on the devastating effects of violent conflict and encourage dialogue, adding “Peace is not an absence of war, it is a virtue, a state of mind, a disposition for benevolence, confidence, justice.”
