Your anti-Tinubu coalition will fail, APC chieftain tells Atiku, others
Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has declared that the current move by opposition leaders to unite against President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 will not succeed. He made this statement during a media chat with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo.
Oyintiloye, who served as a member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), cautioned prominent figures like former Vice Presidents Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, as well as former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, to abandon what he called a doomed project. Instead, he urged them to join President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He argued that over the past 70 years, coalition-building efforts in Nigerian politics have often failed due to lack of unity, selfish motives, and poor conflict management. According to him, successful alliances must go beyond shared opposition and demonstrate long-term cohesion, strategic compromise, and national interest.
“Critically looking at the ongoing coalition against the president, it is clear that those involved are only trying to revive their failing political careers,” Oyintiloye said. “This is not about Nigerians; it’s about personal ambition and desperation.”
Describing the coalition as a gathering of aggrieved leaders, Oyintiloye said their motives are rooted in greed and hatred for President Tinubu. He questioned whether they could perform better if they were in power, adding that if they had been offered appointments, they would have been supporters of the same government they now criticize.
“Tinubu is the master of the game,” he said. “They are moving from pillar to post out of desperation. But as usual, they will fail.”
Oyintiloye reminded the opposition leaders of the 2023 general elections, where despite internal and external forces working against Tinubu, he emerged victorious without being in power. He questioned how a coalition could unseat a president who is now in office and actively reviving the economy.
He concluded by advising the opposition to channel their energy into supporting the president’s agenda. He said Tinubu’s achievements in economic and infrastructure reforms over the past two years are already boosting public confidence and should be encouraged rather than opposed.
