Your govt shows total disregard for citizens’ plight-Lagos PDP slams Sanwo-Olu

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has slammed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for showing lack of compassion and total disregard for the plight of Lagosians.

The opposition party was reacting to the recent hike in the fares of BRT buses in the state.

WesternPost had reported that the state government increased the fare of BRT buses from various locations due to an increase in cost of operations.

According to the state government, from July 13, a trip from Ikorodu to TBS will cost N600 naira instead of N500; Berger to Ajah will increase to N700 from N600 among others.

Faulting the increment, the Lagos PDP in a statement issued on Saturday by its State Publicity Secretary, Mr Hakeem Amode and made available to WesternPost said: “The APC led government blame the hike in the pump price of diesel  from N187 to N830 and the unavailability of spare parts for the increase.

“With  the  crippling economic situation brought about by this same government’s ineptitude, being experienced by Lagosians on a daily basis, the Lagos State government has shown lack of compassion and total disregard for the plight of the citizens of the state.”

Amode said that the Sanwo-Olu’s administration had completely abdicated its responsibility to the people of the state and turn a blind eye to their predicaments.

“The few ‘luxuries’ that the people benefit from the state is being taken away. Now is not the time for any form of increment, as the people of the state have suffered enough under this unsympathetic government.

“The proposed increase should be shelved so as not to worsen the citizens’ situation in the face of dilapidated infrastructure, insecurity, hunger, rise in crime among others being experienced by the people of the state,” the statement added.
