YouTuber Kai Cenat connects with beneficiaries of Makoko school project

Prominent American YouTuber Kai Cenat has connected with beneficiaries of his education project in Makoko, Lagos, following his meeting with the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday.
The streamer paid a visit to the Makoko Children School and Orphanage Home, where he met with pupils benefiting from the initiative he has been funding.
Videos circulating online from the visit show Kai celebrating with the children amid excitement.
Cenat had earlier revealed plans to develop initiatives aimed at benefiting children and youths across the state during his meeting with the governor. This sparked widespread speculation about the link between his visit and the school project he had earlier promised.
Recall that the content creator first visited Nigeria in 2024, when he toured the Makoko Children Development Foundation School and Orphanage. He was visibly moved by the poor learning environment in which he met the children and promised to support the development of the facility through funding.
Kai dedicated about $5 million to the project during his Mafiathon 3 livestream in 2025. However, the proposed school project was later relocated to Yaba, Lagos, due to safety and structural concerns surrounding Makoko’s floating environment.
The project is expected to offer free education to Makoko children, with subsidised fees for others.
