Zulum debunks defection rumours, reaffirms loyalty to APC

By Kunle Sanni –

Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, has dismissed rumours of his alleged defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as baseless and politically motivated fiction.

In a tweet posted on Sunday, Governor Zulum described the claim—circulating on social media—that he is planning to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alongside five other governors as “a speculation from the imagination of wishful thinkers.”

“This is entirely false and exists only in the imagination of its sponsors,” Zulum stated, adding that the rumour was being peddled by “detractors who have made no meaningful contribution to the progress of Borno State or Nigeria.”

He labelled the report a “cheap, politically motivated speculation” intended to sow tension and distract from the critical work of governance and development in Borno.

“My loyalty to the APC remains firm, and my dedication is solely to the welfare and progress of Borno State,” the governor affirmed.

Governor Zulum urged citizens and the media to rely on credible, official sources and avoid falling for disinformation campaigns orchestrated by political opportunists.

“We have no time for cheap politics; our hands are full with the noble task of rebuilding and developing our dear state,” he said.
