The governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has said that the commissioning of the newly reconstructed Gbangbalogun Axis Road in Akure marks a pivotal step in his administration’s infrastructural renewal agenda aimed at driving urban transformation and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

The governor described the inauguration as a significant milestone in his administration’s first 100 days in office, underlining the government’s focus on delivering impactful governance through the “OUR EASE” agenda—a policy blueprint centered on infrastructure, social development, and economic efficiency.

“This event, occurring within our Administration’s first 100 days in office, unequivocally underscores our resolute commitment to impactful progress. This road project is a strategic intervention designed not only to ease traffic congestion but also to stimulate economic activity and improve public welfare. The Gbangbalogun axis is a vital urban artery. Our intervention here is part of a broader infrastructure strategy that ensures improved access, boosts economic vibrancy, and reduces vehicle maintenance costs for our people”, he said.

Aiyedatiwa emphasized that the timing of the road’s rehabilitation aligns with ongoing work on the larger Oke-Aro–Idanre Road, which had been recently flagged off.

He explained that fixing the Gbangbalogun link ahead of the main arterial route was a calculated and proactive decision to avoid future traffic bottlenecks and support efficient traffic distribution in the area.

Aiyedatiwa also extended his appreciation to the residents and road users in the Gbangbalogun area for their patience and cooperation throughout the construction period. He acknowledged the inconvenience that often comes with major civil works but noted that their understanding was vital to the project’s success.

Also speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Engr. Olawoye Abiola, revealed that the newly commissioned roads cover a combined distance of seven kilometers, adding that several other road projects are ongoing across the State and would be completed in phases.

“These roads are not just physical structures; they represent the Governor’s vision for a modern, connected, and economically vibrant Ondo State,” Abiola said.

In his goodwill message, the Deji of Akure Kingdom, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, commended the governor for his quick and responsive approach to the developmental needs of the Akure people, describing the projects as timely and impactful, noting “the roads would bring immense relief to commuters and boost commercial activities within the city”.
