Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Tuesday kick-started their preparations for Friday’s all-important World Cup qualifier against Lesotho.

A total of seventeen players were on the ground for the first training session held on Tuesday evening in Polokwane, South Africa.

The team’s training began at 6:00 p.m. local time, a day after the arrival of the technical crew and backroom staff, who officially opened camp on Monday.

Among the players who featured in the session were African Player of the Year Ademola Lookman, Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen, and Chrisantus Uche. Other key squad members in attendance included William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Bruno Onyemaechi, Terem Moffi, Moses Simon, Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Frank Onyeka, and Tolu Arokodare.

Also present were returnee defender Semi Ajayi and goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali, Adebayo Adeleye, and Amas Obasogie, who all trained under the supervision of the coaching staff.

Nigeria currently sit third in Group C of the CAF World Cup qualifying table with 11 points from eight matches.

To stand a chance of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Nigeria need to win their remaining two fixtures while banking on favorable results from group rivals South Africa and Benin Republic.

The Super Eagles will face Lesotho on Friday in Polokwane in a must-win fixture for the Nigerians.
