18 APC governors back Uzodinma, pass vote of confidence as PGF chairman

Eighteen governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress have reaffirmed their support for Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo state, passing a vote of confidence on his leadership as chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum.
The endorsement comes amid widespread controversy and conflicting reports alleging that Uzodinma had been removed as chairman of the forum during a late-night meeting in Abuja.
Earlier reports claimed that some APC governors held a closed-door meeting and resolved to replace the Imo State governor over alleged mismanagement, internal grievances, and dissatisfaction with his leadership style.
The reports further suggested that Peter Mbah was being considered as a possible replacement.
However, developments at the APC governors’ meeting on Thursday contradicted the speculation, as governors in attendance dismissed the claims and publicly backed Uzodinma’s leadership.
A majority of APC governors present at the meeting closed ranks with the PGF chairman, describing the reports of his removal as false and misleading.
In a show of solidarity, TVC News on Friday reported that 18 APC governors endorsed Uzodinma and expressed confidence in his ability to continue leading the forum.
The move is widely seen as an effort by APC governors to calm tensions within the ruling party and project unity following the confusion sparked by the reports of Uzodinma’s alleged removal.
