2026: Endorsements won’t save you from defeat, Osun APC tells Adeleke

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the endorsements of Governor Ademola Adeleke for re-election, describing them as “mere cosmetic gestures” that cannot secure his victory in the 2026 governorship election.
In a statement signed by the APC Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the party argued that endorsements have never guaranteed electoral success, citing historical precedents.
“There is no special reason for the Governor to celebrate these endorsements,” Olabisi said.
“Political history has shown that such endorsements do not confer any significant advantage on public office holders.”
The APC further criticized the Governor’s administration, alleging that it has failed to deliver meaningful progress for the state.
The APC accused Adeleke of focusing on superficial activities rather than addressing critical governance issues.
“Governor Adeleke should not be carried away by these endorsements,” the statement read.
“Political office holders have never succeeded by relying on such gestures, as history has shown.”
The party alleged that Adeleke’s administration has not added significant value to Osun State, claiming it lacks the depth and tact required for effective leadership.
The APC highlighted specific grievances, including the alleged failure of Adeleke’s administration to employ teachers in public schools or improve healthcare services in the state.
“Can the Governor explain why, in over two years, his administration has not employed a single teacher in public schools? Or why he terminated the employment of 1,500 teachers and thousands of health workers hired by his predecessor?” Olabisi asked.
The party also criticized the state of healthcare facilities under Adeleke’s government, describing them as “mere consulting clinics without drugs or qualified manpower.”
The APC argued that endorsements from any quarter cannot salvage what it described as a “purposeless and rudderless administration.”
“No amount of endorsements can redeem an administration that has wasted the state’s scarce resources,” the statement continued.
“The Governor’s focus on accommodating pliable members of the State House of Assembly in hotels instead of adequately repairing their official quarters reflects poor planning and governance.”
The APC concluded by urging Osun residents to critically evaluate the performance of the current administration as the 2026 elections approach.
