2027: Abiodun officially presents Senator Adeola as Ogun APC consensus governorship candidate

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has formally presented the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Sen. Adeola Solomon, as the consensus governorship candidate of the ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state.

The presentation took place during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Empire Ground in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area, with the governor joined by the state chairman of the party, Chief Yemi Sanusi, alongside members of the APC state executive committee and other party leaders.

Speaking at the gathering, said the decision to support a candidate from Ogun West was intended to address what he described as a longstanding political imbalance in the state. He noted that the senatorial district has not produced a governor since the creation of Ogun State nearly five decades ago.

The governor said the emergence of Senator Adeola as the consensus candidate followed extensive consultations among party stakeholders across the state, adding that the decision was subsequently ratified during a state caucus meeting held in Abeokuta, where the lawmaker received unanimous endorsement.

Abiodun described the consensus arrangement as a major political achievement for the APC in Ogun State, saying the process demonstrated unity and maturity within the party.

The governor appealed to aspirants who were not selected to support the party’s decision, assuring them that all serious contenders would be adequately accommodated within the party structure.

Abiodun further commended the people of Yewaland for their support during the 2023 governorship election and pledged that his administration would continue to ensure fairness in the distribution of developmental projects across all parts of the state.

In his acceptance speech, Senator Adeola said “I want, on behalf of myself, my family, and supporters across the APC, to accept this endorsement by the people of Ogun West Senatorial District as the gubernatorial candidate of our great party ahead of the February 6, 2027 governorship election. I do not take this endorsement for granted, and I sincerely appreciate the leadership of the APC for this great honour”.
