2027: APC leaders rally support for Tinubu in Oyo

By Adejayan Gbenga

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have unveiled plans to mobilise massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections. The disclosure was made during the continuation of the 14-Federal Constituency Tour, jointly organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the Oyo State chapter of the APC.

The tour, held on Monday, covered the Ibadan North-East/South-East and Ibadan North-West/South-West Federal Constituencies. It attracted prominent party stakeholders, including former First Lady, Florence Ajimobi; Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin; Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu; serving and former senators, party executives, and grassroots leaders.

Speaking at the event, Senator Folarin said the initiative was designed to strengthen internal cohesion, rebuild confidence within party structures, and lay a disciplined foundation for effective voter mobilisation. He described Ibadan as the political nerve centre of the South-West, noting that Oyo State recorded the highest differential votes for President Tinubu in the 2023 election and that the party intends to surpass that record in 2027.

Folarin emphasised the need to consistently communicate the Tinubu administration’s reform agenda to grassroots voters, describing the reforms as critical to economic stabilisation and long-term national growth. He said sustained engagement would help deepen public understanding and support.

Former First Lady, Florence Ajimobi, urged party leaders and supporters to uphold unity and discipline, stressing that a cohesive party structure is essential to sustaining the APC’s influence in Oyo State. She noted that reconnecting with grassroots supporters through the tour was key to consolidating support for President Tinubu.

Also speaking, Senators Abdulfatai Buhari, Sharafadeen Alli, and Yunus Akintunde described the tour as timely, saying it had helped restore confidence among party members. They called on supporters to actively participate in voter registration and continuous voter registration (CVR) to expand the party’s electoral base.

In his remarks, Chief Adebayo Adelabu commended the party’s grassroots engagement strategy, noting that electoral success is built on sustained mobilisation rather than last-minute campaigns. He called for early reconciliation and coordinated efforts to strengthen party structures at the local level.

The Oyo APC Chairman, Pharm. Olayide Abass, alongside other party leaders, urged intensified voter education and disciplined mobilisation. They reiterated that early preparation, unity, and strategic outreach at ward and polling-unit levels are crucial to securing a strong electoral showing for President Tinubu in 2027.
