A cyber-security expert and IT specialist, Dr. Ololade Bakare, has expressed confidence in securing the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stated this on Monday during an interview on Splash FM Ibadan’s Spot Light programme, hosted by Mr. Tunde Olawuwo, where he reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and commitment to pursuing the governorship ambition within the party.
Dr. Bakare, who hails from Isale Bode in Ibadan, is an alumnus of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, and said his background and exposure have prepared him for leadership.
He described the Oyo APC as united and focused under the leadership of Senator Teslim Folarin, noting that his experience and track record in public service make him a strong contender for the party’s ticket.
On internal democracy, Dr. Bakare called for an open and transparent primary process, stressing that fairness and inclusiveness are vital to strengthening the party and enhancing its electoral prospects.
He highlighted his professional contributions at the defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), where he said he led key initiatives aimed at improving tax infrastructure and public service delivery through technology and cyber-security expertise.
Commenting on the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, Bakare criticised issues of transparency, particularly the handling of the N30 billion federal intervention fund for the Bodija explosion, and insisted that the APC is well positioned to reclaim power in 2027.
He also spoke on the activities of his non-governmental organisation, the IGBEGA OYO INITIATIVE, which he said has empowered many residents across the state, while pledging continued loyalty to the APC and support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms and a second term in office.
