Badagry LG Chairman leads council officials on condolence visit to late Akran’s palace

The Chairman of Badagry Local Government and Chief Mourner, Babatunde Hunpe, on Tuesday led members of the council on a condolence visit to the palace of the late Akran of Badagry, His Majesty De Wheno Aholu Menu-Toyi I.
It would be recalled that Oba Aholu died at the age of 89 on Monday after reigning for 44 years.
Hunpe was accompanied by the Vice Chairman, Akeem Adeyemi; the Leader of the House, Bankole Mautin Asokere; councillors; aides; the Council Manager, Mrs. Olusanya Abosede Mary; the Council Treasurer, Mr. Olugbenga Hunponu; and other members of the council’s management team.


The chairman and his entourage were received by members of the royal family, children of the late monarch, palace officials, and a cross-section of Badagry indigenes who had gathered at the palace to mourn the revered traditional ruler.
In his condolence message, Hon. Hunpe commiserated with the Akran’s family, the Royal Council, and the entire people of Badagry over the irreparable loss. He described the late monarch as an accommodating, selfless and dedicated traditional ruler whose reign was characterised by wisdom, peace, unity and a strong commitment to the development of Badagry.

An official condolence letter from the Badagry Local Government was formally presented to the family of the late Akran by the Council Manager, Mrs. Olusanya Abosede Mary. The letter was received on behalf of the royal family by Prince Akran Seyon, who expressed appreciation to the Chairman and the council for the show of support and solidarity during the period of mourning.
Special prayers were offered for the peaceful transition of the late Akran, who has joined his ancestors, as well as for comfort and strength for the royal family and the people of Badagry.
The Chairman reaffirmed the council’s solidarity with the traditional institution and the people of Badagry, praying that the enduring legacy of the late monarch continues to inspire unity, peace and progress across the kingdom.
