By Mosunmola Ayobami, Ilorin –
A women’s group under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kwara State chapter, has launched a platform to promote female political aspirants ahead of the 2027 general election.
Speaking at the event held on Wednesday at the party secretariat in G.R.A, Ilorin, the convener, Hon. Ambassador Zainab Damilola Abbas, said the initiative was created to sustain the inclusive leadership legacy of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
She described the platform as a defining moment in the political journey of Kwara women, noting that the AbdulRazaq administration’s 35% women representation in governance has become a benchmark for inclusion.
Abbas said the initiative would mentor and mobilize women across the 16 local government areas, strengthen solidarity among female aspirants, and complement government efforts in implementing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope vision.
“We are not here to compete but to complement; not to divide but to develop; not to be seen but to serve. We are committed to building a future where women actively shape the story of Kwara and Nigeria,” she said.
She commended Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Hajia Fatimoh Tajudeen Abbas, and Ambassador Olufolake AbdulRazaq for their consistent advocacy for women’s advancement nationwide.
Guest speaker, Mrs. Hawa Bashir, praised the initiative and urged women to take their rightful place in politics, saying leadership is a role women have long played in homes and workplaces.
The State Commissioner for Social Development, Hajia Mariam Nnafatima Imam, lauded the governor’s inclusive leadership, expressing optimism that the future of women in politics is bright in Kwara with the new platform.
