2027: Group targets grassroots mobilisation for Yoruba candidates in Lagos

…moves to sensitise voters on political participation
A socio-political conservative Yoruba youths group, Bilisi Movement, has intensified grassroots mobilisation for the advancement of Yoruba interests in communities across Lagos State.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Osolo of Isolo’s palace in Lagos on Saturday, the group Coordinator Comrade Olawale Osifeso lamented the poor representation of Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II at the National Assembly, calling for support for a Yoruba-speaking candidate to win the seat in the 2027 elections.
He said that the group was building its structure from the grassroots to ensure wider participation in its activities, saying “We are taking the message directly to the people because grassroots mobilisation is essential to achieving any meaningful objective”.
Osifeso said the group would continue to sensitise residents and mobilise support through meetings and community engagements, adding “Our approach is to educate, mobilise and encourage participation in the political process”.
He said that the group was committed to taking its message to residents at the grassroots and creating greater awareness about issues affecting the Yoruba people.
The coordinator said the group would continue to engage community members, traditional institutions and other stakeholders in a peaceful manner as part of efforts to advance its cause.
“We will intensify efforts to support Yoruba to occupy all elective positions across the state” he said.
Meanwhile, the Osolo of Isolo, Alagbeji III, HRM Oba Isa Abiodun Olakunle Faronbi Shekoni, commended the efforts of the group in advancing the interest of the Yoruba race, saying that Lagos and the Aworis in particular are accommodating tribe.
Oba Shekoni said there was a need to re-orientate and educate residents on the importance of participating in the political process, adding that the community would support the group in sensitising residents ahead of the 2027 general elections.
