2027: Group targets one million votes for Tinubu in Ondo

By Boye Oyeyemi

A support group backed by the Minister of Interior, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, has set a target of securing more than one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in Ondo State in the 2027 presidential election.

The group, led by its National President, Otunba Abubakar Adesina, announced the target during a mega rally at the Ikare-Akoko Cenotaph in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state.

The rally attracted youths, artisans, market women, professionals and other residents and was aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu while sensitising eligible voters on the importance of participating in the electoral process.

Speaking at the event, Adesina said the Tinubu administration had recorded progress in areas including education, health care, housing, urban development and road infrastructure, adding that the group would take information about the programmes to communities across the state.

He also expressed concern over the low voter turnout recorded in the last election, saying greater participation would be essential to achieving the group’s mobilisation target in 2027.

Adesina said about 1.9 million people were registered to vote in Ondo State during the last election, but only about 300,000 eventually cast their ballots. He said the group would educate residents about their voting rights and encourage more eligible voters to participate in the 2027 election.

Similarly, the group’s United Kingdom Coordinator, Sam Adedayo Adegbite, said the organisation had structures across Ondo State and other parts of Nigeria and would sustain its mobilisation campaign. He said he travelled from the UK to attend the rally and commended Tunji-Ojo for his contributions to the state.

The National Organising Secretary, Engineer Beremoye Samuel, said representatives from all 18 local government areas attended the rally, adding that the group would intensify its grassroots campaign by taking the administration’s programmes to communities and mobilising residents to vote for Tinubu in 2027.
