2027: Olajengbesi demands probe of Fadahunsi over alleged election remarks

By Deborah Oladejo, Osogbo –

Pelumi Olajengbesi, the Accord candidate for Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, has called on the Nigeria Police Force to investigate Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, over alleged inflammatory election remarks made ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

Olajengbesi, in a recent statement on his Facebook page, urged the police to prosecute Fadahunsi if investigations established that an offence had been committed. He warned that failure to sanction inflammatory political conduct could encourage further electoral intimidation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He made the call following a viral video involving the Chairman of Kuje Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory, Samuel Danjuma Shekwolo, who allegedly told residents, “It’s either you’re doing APC or leave the area council”.

Olajengbesi described the incident as disturbing but not isolated, linking it to what he called a pattern of inflammatory political conduct witnessed during the recently concluded Osun governorship election.

He said, “Days before the August 15 election, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, was captured on video making deeply inflammatory remarks against members of the Accord Party. Nigerians, civil society organisations and activists condemned those remarks. The police subsequently invited him, but he was released hours later without any prosecution”.

He further alleged that Francis Eniade, the APC candidate for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin Federal Constituency, was also captured on video threatening Accord members and warning non-APC supporters against coming out on election day, adding that no prosecution followed.

The Accord candidate also recalled that Hon. Wole Oke had, in April, warned that anyone outside President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political camp should “bear the consequences” of his or her decision. Olajengbesi said support for Tinubu’s re-election should not become a licence for political intimidation.

“Those who threaten citizens in his name are not strengthening his campaign; they are liabilities to it. President Tinubu needs genuine supporters who can persuade Nigerians on the strength of his record, not political actors whose conduct alienates the very electorate whose confidence and votes he needs,” he added.
