2027: Tinubu’s reforms rescued Nigeria from collapse, says Abiodun as Ogun APC endorses President

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Wednesday commended the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing them as bold measures that rescued Nigeria from economic collapse and placed the country on the path of sustainable growth.
Abiodun spoke at the Expanded Stakeholders Strategic Meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abeokuta, where party leaders across the state unanimously endorsed President Tinubu for a second term.
He said the president demonstrated courage by removing fuel and foreign exchange subsidies, longstanding policies he described as major distortions in the economy.
According to the governor, the reforms have begun yielding results, including improved fuel availability, easing inflationary pressures, a stabilising naira, renewed investor confidence and foreign reserves rising to about $45 billion.
Abiodun also highlighted key infrastructure projects such as the 700-kilometre coastal highway and the Sokoto–Badagry superhighway, noting that Nigeria is regaining investor interest and economic momentum.
On party affairs, he praised the unity within the APC in Ogun State, describing the large turnout at the meeting as a sign of cohesion and strength, and announced plans to build a new state party secretariat within six months.
Reflecting on his administration’s performance, the governor listed achievements in infrastructure, housing, healthcare and economic development, stating that Ogun’s GDP now stands at ₦17 trillion and that the state ranks among Nigeria’s top-performing economies.
Abiodun pledged a smooth transition at the end of his tenure and reaffirmed his support for President Tinubu, describing the endorsement as strategic and necessary to sustain ongoing reforms.
