21 home-based Eagles train in Ikenne as Nigeria prepares for CHAN

The Super Eagles Team B, Nigeria’s home-based national squad, commenced preparations for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) with an initial training session held on Monday night at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.

A total of 21 players were in attendance for the first session, which took place under floodlights.

Fourteen additional players are expected to join the camp on Tuesday, bringing the squad closer to full strength ahead of the continental tournament.

The training marks the beginning of a critical phase as the Eagles prepare to represent Nigeria in Group D of the CHAN competition, where they will face Senegal, Sudan, and Congo.

The players who participated in the opening session are:

Remo Stars: Nduka Junior, Adedayo Olanipekun, Sadiq Ismail, Kayode Bankole, Tochukwu Michael, Sikiru Alimi, Hadi Haruna
Rivers United: Abdulrafiu Taiwo, Taofeek Otaniyi, Ani Henry, Egbe Stephen, Aniekeme Okon
Ikorodu City: Harrison Austin, Adelani Shola, Ayomide Cole, Leonard Ngenge
Shooting Stars: Lawal Mustapha
Plateau United: Temitope Vincent
Kwara United: Nurudeen Badmos, Afeez Bankole
Enyimba FC: Atule Joseph

Nigeria will kick off their CHAN campaign against Senegal on August 5, followed by fixtures against Sudan on August 12 and Congo on August 19, 2025. All group matches will be crucial in determining qualification to the knockout rounds of the tournament, which features only players plying their trade in their respective domestic leagues.
