28-year-old man electrocuted in Oyo

A 28-year-old electrician has been electrocuted in Eruwa, Ibarapa East Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the tragic incident on Wednesday.
According to him, the victim was attempting to fix an electrical fault on active power lines without shutting down the feeder when the incident occurred.
Akinyinka stated that the agency received a distress call at 3:29 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
“The distress call was reported at 15:29hrs on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Fire personnel, led by PFS1 Peluola Babatunde, responded promptly and, upon arrival, found the victim already electrocuted. All necessary precautionary measures were taken to safeguard citizens in the vicinity,” he said.
The body was recovered and handed over to a team of officers from the Eruwa Police Station.
Akinyinka reiterated that the electrocution occurred while the electrician was attempting to fix a fault on live power lines without first shutting down the feeder.
