40-yr old man shot dead by security guard in Osun

A 40-year-old man, Mohammed Badmus has been shot dead by a security night guard at Ibuowo Estate, Okinni in Egbedore Local Government area of Osun State.

Badmus was been killed in the early hours of Saturday with a dane gun. He died instantly after being shot.

It was gathered that the guard, Rasaq Moshood, shot the deceased, who is popularly called Lasgidi in front of his rented apartment.

Badmus’ landlord, Kazeem Jimoh, said he and the deceased were at a bar till midnight on Friday, before he was called on phone about his death.

“I and Kazeem were at a bar till past 12am when I left him.

“I didn’t sleep at home but I got a call around 1am that Lasgidi was killed by a guard. When I got home, I saw his door opened, while his corpse was outside,” he said.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital Morgue, Osogbo for autopsy. 

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Yemisi Opolola said that the Chairman of Ibuowo Estate, Mr. Babatunde Olumide, reported the incident at Dada Estate Divisional Police Headquarters.

Opalola said that three night guards alongside Moshood have been arrested and the gun used to kill the victim was also recovered.

She said: “One Babatunde Olumide, the chairman of Ibuowo Estate, Okinni reported at Dada Estate Divisional Police Headquarters that their night guard, one Moshood Rasaq used his dane gun to shoot one Mohammed Badmus, aged 40 years and he died instantly.

“Suspect has been arrested, gun used has been recovered, while the corpse has been taken to UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.

“However case has been transferred to SCID for further investigation.”
