42,771 passports processed in 12 months- Kwara NIS

Kwara state comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Comptroller Aminu Shamsuddin, has disclosed that 42,771 passports were processed in 2023.

Shamsuddin said a new passports office has been opened in Offa, saying that it would aid efficiency and conveniency of passports application and capturing.

“As far as kwara state is concerned we have recently opened a passport office at Offa,this has reduced the crowd and the monopoly of Ilorin passport only, unfortunately kwara is only processing center but produced in Ibadan “he said.

Shamsuddin made this disclosure while speaking with newsmen in Ilorin on Wednesday at the service office.

He said with the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu, the Service is one of the services that got up new systems in the acquisition of passports in Nigeria.

The Comptroller said that the service has upgraded to accommodate numerous number of passport applicants.

“We changed the whole system to make the process more seamless,by applying at the comfort of your home by logging onto the website of the service and fill the form, appointment date will be given,the applicants will just come for thumbprint,this has reduced the cumbersomeness of the process”he explained.

He said the command processed minimum of 100 passports application daily before the introduction of online application.

“Passports issuance and immigration duties is dynamic, as we are always open to changes especially in the area we should upgrade and update to the world practice “

He disclosed that passport is one of eight directorate of the service,the service deals with migration, ECOWAS certificate among other fields in the service.
