Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), in collaboration with security personnel, have rescued a 55-year-old motorist whose Honda car was hit by a moving train at the PWD Railway Line in Lagos.
The train was travelling towards Agege when the collision occurred, leaving the car, with registration number EKY 902 JT, extensively damaged. The motorist escaped unhurt, and no casualty was recorded.
LASTMA operatives and security personnel swiftly rescued the driver and removed the wreckage from the tracks, allowing the train to continue its journey. However, the incident caused significant traffic congestion around the PWD axis.
The wrecked vehicle was subsequently handed over to security personnel for further investigation.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commended the operatives and security personnel for their prompt, coordinated and professional response.

He emphasised the importance of inter-agency collaboration and swift emergency intervention in managing incidents involving railway operations and adjoining road infrastructure.
Bakare-Oki urged motorists to exercise caution around railway crossings and never attempt to cross tracks when a train is approaching or in motion, warning that such actions could have devastating consequences.
LASTMA reiterated its call for strict compliance with traffic and railway safety regulations, stressing that responsible driving and vigilance remain essential to preventing avoidable accidents and protecting human lives.
