APC chieftain calls for Odigbo to produce next Ondo South senator

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Nimbe Tawose, has called on the party to zone the vacant Ondo South senatorial ticket to Odigbo Local Government Area.

WESTERN POST reports that the seat became vacant following the appointment of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as an ambassador by President Bola Tinubu, triggering political consultations across the six councils in the district.

Speaking with journalists on Thursday, Tawose said zoning had become imperative, noting that Odigbo is the only local government in the district without any form of federal representation.

He criticised arguments seeking to retain the seat in Okitipupa Local Government, insisting that Ibrahim’s new appointment created an opportunity for a fresh zoning arrangement.

Tawose noted that while the senatorial seat is traditionally linked to the Odigbo/Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo federal constituency, Odigbo deserves priority because of its longstanding exclusion.

He added that Okitipupa already enjoys several federal appointments, arguing that it was not originally zoned to produce the senator before Ibrahim’s election.

The APC chieftain also commended Mayowa Akinfolarin, describing him as a credible aspirant with legislative experience, integrity, and a strong record of public service.
