City Boys Movement: Tinubu urges youths to defend reforms, mobilise voters for 2027

President Bola Tinubu has commended youth support groups for defending his administration’s economic reforms, urging young Nigerians to sustain their involvement in governance and participate peacefully in the electoral process ahead of the 2027 general election.
Tinubu spoke on Monday at the State House, Abuja, during a gathering of young supporters under the City Boys Movement, where he acknowledged their role in communicating government policies, mobilising grassroots support and promoting the Renewed Hope agenda.
The President specifically commended the City Boys Movement, Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria and youth groups within the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their activities over the past three years, including during the implementation of fuel subsidy removal, currency reforms and changes to the tax system.
“You understood that a nation cannot borrow its way to greatness. You were patient when patience was hard. You defended this administration in the markets, on campuses, in the motor parks, and on social media, often when it was unpopular to do so,” he said.
Tinubu said he had not forgotten the contributions of young supporters, adding that their participation demonstrated the importance of youth involvement in shaping Nigeria’s future.
He praised the City Boys Movement for establishing a grassroots structure, a call centre and community support initiatives under its City Boys Care programme, describing the group’s activities as evidence of organisational capacity.
“To the City Boys Movement, you have done something new in Nigerian politics. You did not just gather people. You built a structure. Millions of real, verifiable members,” he said.
The President also commended Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria for communicating his administration’s policies and achievements across the country.
