Taiwo Fasoranti, the son of late Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has revealed that his father continued to visit one of his schools just weeks before his death, underscoring his lifelong commitment to education.

Taiwo, the secretary to the Ondo State Government, disclosed this while speaking with journalists on behalf of the family, describing education as one of the strongest values his father upheld throughout his life.

He said the elder statesman believed that education was essential to individual progress and societal development, adding that his commitment to the sector remained evident until his final weeks.

According to him, the late Yoruba leader also believed that successful individuals had a responsibility to invest in their communities, particularly by helping children access education.

Taiwo urged Nigerians who admired his father to sustain that vision by sponsoring the education of children and supporting initiatives that improve opportunities for young people.

“Those of us who met him, his friends, his family members, colleagues and admirers should look for a child and educate that child. Sow into the lives of those people. Make sure people are educated,” he said.

The SSG also disclosed that the family would continue the scholarship foundation established when Fasoranti turned 90, which has supported secondary school and university students in different parts of the country.

He said the family was determined to preserve the foundation’s work, adding that the most meaningful tribute to the elder statesman would be to uphold his commitment to education, selflessness and community service.
