Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed condolences to the family of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, a respected Yoruba leader and elder statesman, following his reported death.
Sanwo-Olu, in a condolence message, extended his sympathies to the Fasoranti family, members of Afenifere and the people of Yorubaland on behalf of his family, the Lagos State Government and people, as well as his fellow governors in the South-West.
He described Fasoranti as a passionate statesman whose contributions to education, leadership and public service would remain indelible.
According to the governor, the late elder statesman positively influenced many lives through his courageous leadership and unwavering commitment to public service and community development.
Sanwo-Olu also praised Fasoranti’s leadership of Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, saying he helped steer the group in the pursuit of the interests and aspirations of the Yoruba people.
He noted that Fasoranti remained committed to the principles of truth, equity, justice, true federalism and good governance, which he championed for decades.
The governor said the late statesman’s contributions to Yorubaland and Nigeria would be remembered, particularly his dedication to leadership and the promotion of good governance.
Sanwo-Olu prayed for the repose of Fasoranti’s soul and asked God to grant his family, loved ones, Afenifere members and the Yoruba people the strength to bear the loss.
