The Students’ Union of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has appealed to the Ondo State Police Command for the redeployment of more competent and adequately trained officers to bolster security in and around the university community.

The demand was made during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, and was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Union President, Comrade Salami Akeem (Ologbon); General Secretary, Comrade Bakare Jamiu Abiodun (Unique); and Public Relations Officer, Comrade Ajidagba Mosadoluwa (Mosa Gold).

The student leaders expressed concern over the prevailing security challenges facing the institution and stressed the urgent need for proactive and effective law enforcement presence to ensure the safety of students and their properties.

“The safety of our students remains a top priority, and it begins with having the right security personnel on ground,” the statement read. “We have requested the redeployment of competent police officers to Akungba-Akoko who can truly take charge of security in the area.”

In addition to the call for more officers, the union urged the state command to replace the non-functional patrol vehicle at the Akungba Divisional Police Station to enhance response time and effectiveness.

They also proposed the establishment of a police-student relations forum to foster improved communication, collaboration, and mutual trust between security operatives and students.

The union further demanded thorough investigations into the unresolved cases of two murdered students, insisting that justice must be served swiftly and transparently.
