AbdulRazaq receives army battalion for Omu-Aran axis, thanks Tinubu

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Tuesday received a Nigerian Army battalion deployed to the Omu-Aran axis in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

The governor received the troops at the 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi Barracks, Ilorin, where he commended President Bola Tinubu for his prompt response to the security needs of the state.

The new General Officer Commanding, Nigerian Army 2 Division, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, and the Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi, Brigadier General Nicholas Rume, were also present at the event.

AbdulRazaq said the deployment demonstrated the federal government’s commitment to strengthening security in Kwara, adding that the troops had arrived sooner than expected.

He said another team had visited Patigi on Monday to identify a suitable location for a new military base for the battalion deployed to the area.

The governor welcomed the troops to Kwara and expressed appreciation to the president, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for approving the deployment.

He also commended Tinubu for approving improved salaries and welfare packages for soldiers, saying the measures would boost their morale and enhance their effectiveness.

AbdulRazaq said the state government had also provided a welfare package for the troops and would continue to support efforts aimed at strengthening security across Kwara.
