AbdulRazaq tours communities in Ifelodun LGA, assures residents of safety

By Mosunmola Ayobami, Ilorin –

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the weekend visited communities in Ifelodun Local Government to reassure residents of his administration’s commitment to strengthening public safety and economic activities.

In Babanla, Oke-Ode, where he touched down, the Governor commended community members and security forces for their resilience. He also sympathized with families who lost loved ones, pledging sustained efforts to prevent further security breaches.

AbdulRazaq directed the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) to extend support to victims of the recent attack. He assured them that government would continue to provide social safety measures to ease their recovery.

The Governor was received in Babanla by the Oba of Babanla, Oba Aliyu Adegboyega Yusuf Arojojoye II, and his chiefs. His entourage included the Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins; Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo; Senior Special Assistant on Security, Muyideen Aliyu; and the Ifelodun Chairman, Hon. Femi Yusuf.

“We are here in Babanla to commiserate with you over the recent incident,” AbdulRazaq said. “We reassure you and other communities that we will ensure this doesn’t happen again. You can see the security commanders are here, and normalcy has returned over the past week.”

He attributed the incident to pressure on criminal non-state actors in other regions, which pushed them into the area. “They will surely be flushed out of this location,” he added.

The Governor expressed satisfaction with the return of calmness, promising: “We will make sure everything is in order and you live in peace.”

In his remarks, Oba Aliyu thanked the Governor for the visit and commended the efforts of both the state and federal governments in restoring peace. He disclosed that the attack led to the theft of nine motorcycles, food items, and phones, while urging government to harness the vast land in Babanla for economic benefits.
