Oyebamiji recalled that Owoeye began his political career as Councillor for Ward 10, Ilesa East, between 1999 and 2002, before being elected four consecutive times into the State House of Assembly where he served from 2007 to 2023. He held key leadership positions, including Minority Leader, Majority Leader, and ultimately, Speaker of the House from 2019 to 2023.
The NIWA boss, a governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC), praised Owoeye’s developmental-driven legislations. He cited the enactment of the Osun Amotekun Law, Anti-Kidnapping Law, University of Ilesa Law, Environmental Protection Bill, Local Government Amendment and Independent Electoral Commission Bill, and the Osun State Disability Law among others.
He commended Owoeye’s loyalty to the APC, describing him as “an indispensable companion in the wheels of progress of our party and a formidable rallying point for electoral victories.”
Oyebamiji also acknowledged the former Speaker’s support and commitment to the AMBO project, noting that his leadership qualities and sterling performance have kept the movement strong and vibrant.
“Celebrating Hon. Timothy Owoeye on a day like this is to celebrate excellence, consistency, integrity, diligence, loyalty, hard work, selflessness, and humanity personified,” Oyebamiji said. “Being the longest-serving legislator, with wisdom and intellect across governance, politics, and human capacity development, Owoeye remains a formidable pillar holding our party structure in Ijesaland and beyond.”
He added that Owoeye’s rise from councillor in Ilesa East to a 16-year record in the State Assembly is a rare feat and a verifiable record of performance in Osun politics.
“On behalf of my family and the AMBO Movement, I congratulate our highly revered former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, on his 53rd birthday anniversary,” Oyebamiji said. “We are proud of your track record as a seasoned administrator and astute politician whose impact on humanity cannot be overemphasized.
